Hope Hospice Quilts Go on Tour

Hope Hospice is celebrating National Hospice Month with a series of City Proclamations and a tour of its famous quilts.

New Braunfels, TX, November 02, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Since 1996, Hope Hospice has been offering the grieving families of its patients a comforting way of memorializing their loved ones. Since nearly the beginning of this program, the Memorial Quilts have been lovingly made by volunteers from the New Braunfels Area Quilt Guild. Hope Hospice’s Memorial Quilts feature a quilt square for each patient who died the year before. The quilt square is created from fabric sent in by the patient’s family and is often a piece of clothing, part of a uniform or even embroidery or cross stitching done by their loved one. The quilts are on display in the Hope Hospice offices on Walnut Street in New Braunfels year round, but get to go out into the community for special events.

This year Hope Hospice is celebrating National Hospice Month with five of these beautiful quilts on display throughout the area. Anyone interested is welcome to visit the quilt nearest them, or come to the next Hope Hospice Journeys Tour (Thursday, November 20 from 10 to 11 a.m.) to see the rest of the collection.

Several of the communities Hope Hospice serves are formally recognizing the “highest quality compassionate end of life care; including pain and symptom management, caregiver training and assistance, as well as emotional and spiritual support” Hope Hospice gives its patients and their families. This formal recognition includes Proclamations in New Braunfels, Seguin, Wimberley and San Marcos – just a few of the many cities in Hope Hospice’s fifty-mile service area around New Braunfels.

At the New Braunfels Proclamation, Mayor Bruce Boyer gave a touching testimony of his personal experiences with Hope Hospice.

Hope Hospice has been providing excellence in care, comfort and education to all in our community affected by life-limiting illness, grief or loss since 1984.
