Chef Adrianne Calvo Hosts Celebrity Cook-Off During South Florida Health and Fitness Expo

Miami, FL, June 27, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Chef Adrianne Calvo, a preeminent South Florida-based chef, entrepreneur, and television personality hosted a cooking contest between several members of the on-air talent roster of two local television stations during the South Florida Health and Fitness Expo, an event that transpired at the Miami Beach Convention Center the weekend of April 25th-26th, 2009. The proceedings were co-sponsored by Panda Kitchen and Bath, a Miami, Florida-headquartered leader in the kitchen remodeling market that features Chef Adrianne as their exclusive celebrity spokesperson.

The "Health and Fitness Expo Cookoff", which closely paralleled the competitive cooking format popularized on the highly rated cable television sensation Iron Chef, consisted of two teams comprised of news anchors and reporters from the respective participating television outlets. Each unit was provided with a previously unannounced recipe for a 3 course meal from Chef Adrianne's book Maximum Flavor at the onset of the 40 minute cooking period they were afforded. Two sous-chefs were available for each of the teams to provide assistance in the areas of food preparation and at the conclusion of the allotted timeframe, a panel consisting of three judges served as the official tasters and final word on the winners.

"Having an opportunity to host and judge the cook-off was not only an honor, but a very entertaining experience as well, " commented Chef Adrianne. "I always enjoy seeing recipes come to life, regardless of the level of experience those preparing them may have."

Local television personalities participating as celebrity chefs consisted of Julia Yarbough, co-anchor of the NBC 6 News at 6pm and South Florida Tonight at 11pm; Sharon Lawson, NBC 6 reporter; and Telemundo 51 co-anchors Maria Montoya and Abel Hernandez. Joining Chef Adrianne on the judge's bench for the event were NBC 6 personality Roxanne Vargas, Panda Kitchen and Bath spokesman Hernan Soto, and Mariana Rodriguez.

The South Florida Health and Fitness Expo featured two full days of events, demonstrations, and exhibiting companies promoting a variety of products and services geared toward establishing and maintaining optimal health.
