Dr. Yaron Brook, Executive Director of the Ayn Rand Institute, Speaks on Entrepreneurship at the Charlotte, NC Business and Innovation Growth Council

Charlotte, NC, August 08, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Today, Terry Thorson Cox, president of the Business Innovation and Growth Council (BIG), announced that Dr. Yaron Brook, executive director of the Ayn Rand Institute will address members and guests of the BIG Council in Charlotte on August 14, 2009, as part of a review and discussion of the Ayn Rand book Atlas Shrugged. Published over 50 years ago, Atlas Shrugged has continued to sell strongly and as recently as March 2009 became #1 on Amazon’s Fiction and Literature best seller list. Dr. Brook will be introduced by John Allison, chairman of BB&T. Dr. Brook is the Institute’s lead spokesman on author Ayn Rand’s theory of Objectivism and on issues related to business, economics, venture capital and foreign policy.

The Atlas Shrugged event is part of BIG Council’s BIG Ideas Exchange series, meant to expose high growth entrepreneurs to thought leaders for education and peer to peer discussion. Cox commented, “I am delighted that Dr. Brook is willing to facilitate a timely discussion for the BIG community on how free market societies help entrepreneurial economies flourish. The Institute’s message regarding the important role of entrepreneurism in a democratic society fits well with BIG’s charter on behalf of our membership.”

The BIG Council is an advocate for creating a business environment conducive to supporting the needs of high growth entrepreneurs. “Having a thought leader like John Allison introduce the program is a pleasure, since he has contributed significantly to growth in our region,” says Cox.

The interactive lecture and discussion session will take place at Tate Hall in the Overcash Building, Central Piedmont Community College, 1206 Elizabeth Avenue, Charlotte, NC.. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and Dr. Brook’s presentation takes place from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The cost for non-members to attend is $45 in advance or $65 at the door. Registration is required. Space is limited.
