ELFAA Cements Pan-European Credentials by Welcoming Aboard Blue Air

The European Low Fares Airline Association (ELFAA) is pleased to share with you its latest press release on the extension of its membership to the Romania-based airline, Blue Air.

Brussels, Belgium, October 03, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The European Low Fares Airline Association (ELFAA) is delighted to welcome onboard as a new member the Bucharest-based airline, Blue Air.

Blue Air was the first low fares airline in Romania when it was founded in 2004 and has been riding the twin waves of liberalisation and EU enlargement ever since.

“With the addition of Blue Air, ELFAA’s members now collectively carry over 150 million passengers every year” said ELFAA Secretary-General John Hanlon. “Blue Air’s membership reinforces the fact that ELFAA members are principal stakeholders in legislation concerning European aviation. They are all based in Europe, operate within Europe, and serve predominantly European consumers and businesses.”

Mr Hanlon concluded: “The addition of yet another dynamic player in the low fares market demonstrates the appeal of ELFAA within the industry itself and marks it out as a truly pan-European stakeholder on the EU stage.”

“We look forward to working closely with Blue Air in the coming months and to the possibility of welcoming further airlines to the ELFAA fold in the near future.”

Notes to the editor:

ELFAA is the principal European airline association, carrying around 150 million passengers every year and accounting for over 35% of scheduled intra-European traffic.

Today, ELFAA comprises 11 airline members which include: Blue Air, bmibaby, easyJet, Flybe, Jet2.com, Norwegian, Ryanair, SverigeFlyg, transavia.com, vueling and Wizz Air.

ELFAA’s primary objective is to ensure that European policy and legislation promote free and equal competition to enable the continued growth and development of low fares into the future, thereby allowing a greater number of people to travel by air.
