On August 3, 2006, the Senate passed H.R. 4, the Pension Protection Act of 2006 (the "Act")1, which provides significant relief from certain of the plan asset and prohibited transaction rules under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974. About Patricia A. Shlonsky

Patricia A. Shlonsky, Partner and Chair of the Employee Benefits Group at Ulmer and Berne, has 20 years of experience assisting clients in the establishment, qualification and maintenance of all types of employee benefit plans. She advises clients regarding employee benefit compliance issues and represents clients involved in governmental and private dispute resolution. She also provides counsel on distribution planning in connection with individual retirement accounts and qualified plan assets.

Shlonsky represents clients in connection with establishment, qualification and consultation regarding all types of employee benefit plans, including 401(k), employee stock ownership plans, defined benefit plans, and nonqualified deferred compensation. She has more than 18 years experience in employee benefits and represents businesses of all sizes, fiduciaries, insurers and financial providers in connection with all types of ERISA disputes on a regular basis. She counsels fiduciaries in connection with ERISA obligations and provides counsel to clients with regard to distribution planning in connection with individual retirement accounts and qualified plan assets.

She is professionally affiliated with American Bar Association, Ohio State Bar Association, Cleveland Bar Association, Working in Employee Benefits (WEB), and American Society of Pension Actuaries Benefits Council of Cleveland where she was a Former Vice President and Trustee.
