27 Percent Students Rate Their Teachers as Hot. Telonu.com, the Leading Social Reviews & Ratings Site Reveals Analysis and Kicks Off Valentine’s Day Contest.
Milpitas, CA, February 10, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Telonu, (as in Tell-on-you) the leader in social reviews and ratings where users Rave, Rant, Rate™ their schools, workplaces, teachers etc. released analysis of data collected in 2009 that found that 27% of the users rated their teachers as Hot at 4.3 on a 5 point scale. Additionally, 53% rated their teachers as Enjoys Teaching and 48% as Knowing their Stuff.

Overall analysis indicates that more students who contributed reviews and ratings were positive and wanted to express their liking for a teacher. “We believe students are gravitating to the site to express their liking for teachers and in particular the ones they think are hot,” said Raj Shukla, VP of Marketing at Telonu. Interestingly, the analysis found that the teachers who were rated higher on the Hot scale were also rated favorably on “Enjoys Teaching” and “Homework load,” but not as strongly on the “Mentors “scale. “This leads us to conclude that the ratings are correlated and a reflection of finding someone hot,” continued Raj. “We also feel that there may be some hesitancy to getting mentoring help from teachers whom a student likes a lot.”

Sensing this consumer need, Telonu has embarked on a fun Valentine’s week contest where users can submit their Valentine’s Day greeting for their teacher, anonymously if they so choose at www.telonu.com and the best review will win an Apple iPod Nano with runners up prizes of $50 & $25 iTunes cards. Of course no purchase of any type is required and the winners will be contacted via their email addresses and the reviews highlighted on the site.

Telonu is designed with the user’s privacy needs in mind. For each review the user writes after signing up, they can choose their identity – whether they would like to be anonymous, use a nickname or a username. So for students who want to write a Valentine’s Day greeting anonymously, they can chose to do so, or they can post under a nickname their friends may know about. Telonu is the only social site that offers this unique feature.

Telonu offers a complete list of public and private schools and the teachers there, and is easy to use taking less than 30 seconds to post a review. With a simple query via the search bar you can be writing the Valentines’ day greeting you have wanted to write and share for so long. There is also an easy feature to add your teacher in case it is not in the database yet.

The research analysis was based on 7500 reviews and ratings students have submitted on www.telonu.com over 2009.
