CGU Art hosts Annual Open Studios on April 25

The Claremont Graduate University is pleased to announce their Spring 2010 Open Studios event on Sunday April 25th from 1pm-5pm at CGU Art, 251 E. Tenth St. in Claremont.

Claremont, CA, April 17, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Claremont Graduate University's two year MFA program focuses on enabling students to develop a strong studio practice. At the annual Open Studios event all sixty-two students welcome the public into their studios to share this work. For the students, Open Studios is an important opportunity to enter into dialogue with a diverse audience and articulate their work to fresh ears. For the public this is a chance to glimpse the inner workings of the studio and experience a wide array of approaches to art making.

Claremont Alum show at many prestigious galleries in Los Angeles, New York and internationally. Recent Claremont graduates have received the Joan Mitchell Foundation Award, and the International Sculpture Center's Outstanding Student Award.

During this year's Open Studios the MFA candidate Xi Lunnasi 's thesis exhibition will be on display in the East Gallery, and "Crystalline", a show by Los Angeles based artist Christine Nguyen, will be up in the Peggy Phelps Gallery, both located off the main lobby of the Art Department.
