Yoga Yoga Promotes Healthy, Active Lifestyles as Sponsor of Make the Movement Day

Austin, TX, April 21, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Yoga Yoga in Austin, TX, is partnering with the Active Life Movement to support Make the Movement Day on May 5, 2010. Make the Movement Day is the ACTIVE Life Movement's annual, day-long initiative encouraging the public to create and share their "moments" of physical activity, healthy eating, and personal and environmental health to promote healthy, active lifestyles.

As a sponsor of Make the Movement Day, Yoga Yoga’s staff is inviting its current students and the general public to participate in Make the Movement Day by taking a yoga class on May 5, 2010. “Be a part of the Movement and demonstrate your commitment to a healthier lifestyle,” says Rich Goldstein, Yoga Yoga CEO. “Create your own moment on the event website at www.makethemovementday.org or participate in a planned moment with Yoga Yoga. Let’s see how many healthy, active moments we can create together on May 5.”

According to the 2008 Yoga in America study, 6.9 percent or 15.8 million U.S. adults practice yoga. Of current non-practitioners, nearly 8 percent, or 18.3 million Americans, say they are very or extremely interested in yoga. And 4.1 percent of non-practitioners, or about 9.4 million people, say they will definitely try yoga within the next year. The 2008 study also indicated that almost half of current practitioners started practicing yoga to improve their overall health. One significant trend to emerge from the study is the use of yoga as medical therapy. According to the study, 6.1 percent, or nearly 14 million Americans, say that a doctor or therapist has recommended yoga to them. In addition, nearly half of all adults agree that yoga would be beneficial if they were undergoing treatment for a medical condition.
