Do-Gooder for Hire

Innovative alternative to holiday giving.

Denver, CO, November 21, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Tired of not knowing whether your donated dollars to charity actually make a difference in the world? Dr. Rhonda Hackett, President and CEO, Nivek LLC of Denver, CO certainly was after learning the contribution she made to a national charity for 9/11 victims likely ended up covering the organization’s overhead instead of the victims she hoped to help.

“It can be very disheartening to learn that the hard-earned money you choose to donate does not end up helping the people or cause you intend to help,” laments Hackett. Her answer to this quandary was to hit the streets herself looking for people who were falling through the proverbial cracks of the system designed to help them and to find innovative ways to try and fill their void. Consulting with for-profit and nonprofit organizations over the past several years, Hackett has been the driving force behind getting help in the form of shelter to the homeless, food to the hungry, clothing to the naked, and health care resources to the medically underserved, among other essential services, to tens of thousand s of people. “When you are able to by-pass the so-called middle man in the world of charity, your giving efforts can have a more profound impact,” states Hackett.

Keeping a vigilant eye on the fraudulent happenings in the world of charity is another passion of Hackett’s. “It is no secret that charity fraud increases at specific times, such as when a disaster occurs and often around the holidays,” she states. Indeed, charity watch dog organizations warn givers to be on the look out for scammers as the ‘season of giving’ fast approaches. In response to these grim realities, Hackett implores people to stay true to their desire to reach out and to be diligent with their efforts to do so. “Americans donated more than $250 billion to charities last year, yet we are daily witnesses to the incredible increased need of so many,” she states. A new way of doing things seems desperately overdue.

“Do-Gooder for Hire!” is Hackett’s latest attempt to shake up what she calls an archaic system and to get help to as many people as possible. For as little as $50 you can hire Hackett and her team to make a difference in the life of one or as many as 100 people. “Just like when you hire a caterer for your holiday party and specify for them what you want, you can hire us to hit the ‘streets of need’ and tell us exactly how you want your difference made”, reports Hackett.

Last week she was able to provide a much needed commodity, socks, to more than 60 of Denver’s homeless adults on behalf of a client who hired her with $50 to “do as much as you can for as many homeless people as you can.” Unlike when you give your money to a charity in hopes that it will eventually help, say the homeless, you tell Hackett exactly what you want and she delivers. From shopping at discount stores to purchase supplies, to walking the streets to find those in need to offer them help on your behalf, Hackett’s is a full service program. Best of all, when her work is completed on your behalf she will be in touch with the ‘story’ of your money and the difference it made. Expect to learn a great deal about the individual(s) you help. “In my mind it is imperative that the people who choose to reach out get to know the stories of those whose lives they impact,” says Hackett, who goes on to add that she is convinced that if people have more intimate knowledge about those in need, they will understand the plights of our society and be more committed than ever to making true and lasting change.

“Imagine a world where people think it is as routine to hire their very own ‘do-gooder’ as they do a home cleaning service,” Hackett excitedly challenges. Imagine indeed.
