Austin, TX, September 01, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Yoga Yoga in Austin, TX, is offering a scientific research based yoga class on Free Day of Yoga, which is held annually on Labor Day in Austin, TX, to support the growth and interface between yoga and the healthcare environment so that yoga can become more accessible in the context of healthcare in communities across the United States. “Our goal is to have yoga be more in the mainstream, especially in healthcare professionals’ thoughts and awareness,” explains Rich Goldstein, CEO of Yoga Yoga and founder of the Yoga Care Foundation. “The more scientific data that is available about yoga and its benefits, the more doctors and other healthcare professionals can incorporate this ancient wellness tool into their recommendations for self-care. But first, they need to know yoga is safe and what yoga can do for their patients. With this class and the other work we are doing, we want to add to the very limited, existing knowledge base of scientific research about yoga.”

The Yoga Research Revolution: Open Minds, Open Science research is being conducted by Stephanie Shorter, PhD, Director of Research for the Yoga Care Foundation. Originally trained as a sensory neuroscientist and cortical electrophysiologist, she has now devoted her science and writing skills to studying a yogic lifestyle as a foundation for total wellness, personal transformation and social change. The Yoga Care Foundation is an Austin-based 501(c)(3) non-profit that supports yoga research, education, and community outreach. In addition to support from Yoga Yoga and The Yoga Care Foundation, YogaSolve Therapeutics is a sponsor of the research and the class. YogaSolve Therapeutics is a scientifically oriented yoga enterprise providing programs, products and services designed to support individuals seeking healthier lifestyles and alternative therapeutic modalities.
