Dadnab Wins COMTO Austin's 2011 Small Business of the Year Award

Austin, TX, December 05, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Austin chapter of the Conference Of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) honored Dadnab with the Small Business of the Year award at its 2011 Inaugural Transportation Awards Banquet.

The award recognizes the dedication, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit displayed by Austin's small businesses within the transportation industry.

Dadnab provides transit directions by text message in Austin and nine other U.S. metropolitan areas.

In Austin, a Capital Metro rider sends a text message to (512) 981-6221 and includes in the message an origin, destination, and optional departure or arrival time. Dadnab replies with step-by-step instructions to reach the destination by bus or rail.

Recently, Dadnab added "next bus" capabilities in Austin and Portland, whereby a user can text a stop number and receive the next few arrival times for routes serving that stop.

“The service now replies to over 15,000 queries per month in Austin,” says Roger L. Cauvin, who owns and operates the service.

Dadnab joined winners in other categories, including First Transit, Austin Community College, Beverly Silas & Associates, Linda S. Watson, Bobby Stone, Jah Love Inc., and CAS Consulting & Services Inc.

The Conference Of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) is a multi-modal advocacy organization for minority professionals and businesses in the transportation industry.

Dadnab is based in Austin but also provides transit directions for the San Francisco Bay Area, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Portland, Seattle, Southern California, and the New York/New Jersey/Connecticut tri-state area.
