HPE Extrusion Solutions Manufactures Custom Polycarbonate Plastic Extrusions

Suburban Philadelphia plastic extruder offers custom polycarbonate plastic profiles and other extruded polycarbonate plastic products for industrial applications.

Bally, PA, February 29, 2012 --(PR.com)-- HPE Extrusion Solutions, specialists in complex plastic extrusions, is offering extruded custom profiles and tubing from various grades of polycarbonate for industrial, commercial and institutional applications.

Polycarbonate is known to be an excellent material for plastic profiles because of its properties of stiffness, toughness, impact resistance, electrical insulation, heat resistance (temperatures up to 300° F.) and dimensional stability. Although polycarbonate is typically clear, it can be readily colored and produces an attractive glossy finish.

Some of these same properties - toughness, clarity and heat resistance - make polycarbonate an excellent choice for many tubing applications. Some of polycarbonate’s other properties - moisture resistance, impact resistance, rigidity and transparency - lend themselves well to electronic applications, as well.

Among the many applications for extruded polycarbonate are electrical components, automotive parts, trim parts, corner guards, housings, fairings, frames, equipment housings, marine goods, cable raceways, sporting goods and outdoor lighting equipment.

The polycarbonate grade appropriate for a particular application depends on the service conditions to which the part or products is exposed; the need, for example, for chemical resistance, temperature resistance, flame retardancy, weather resistance or stiffness.

HPE's machines' single screw units range from 3/4" to 2 1/2" which permits extrusions of a wide range of sizes and shapes, including profiles ranging in size from 1/16" to 3" with a virtually unlimited length.

Polycarbonate is just one of the many common and advanced thermoplastics resins that HPE is capable of extruding. Others include flexible and rigid PVC, HDPE, LDPE and polypropylene; and innovative engineering resins, such as ABS/PVC alloys and difficult-to-run elastomers, such as acetal, Santoprene, nylon and glass-filled ABS.
