Containerized Storage Offers Security, Safety, Convenience

Portable storage isn't just large steel boxes. The National Portable Storage Association offers tips for securing your container with specialty product add-ons.

Kansas City, MO, June 21, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Portable storage containers come with security bells and whistles that rival some high-priced homes. From security bars to lock boxes to full blown electronic security systems, containerized storage has evolved to ensure the safekeeping of expensive equipment, vital records, and other important items.

"Many people don't realize how sophisticated are the security options for today's portable storage units," said John Finnessy, CMP, Executive Director the National Portable Storage Association, or NPSA, a nonprofit membership association dedicated to the advancement of the portable storage industry. "There are many different options available for securing a container. It just depends on your individual needs."

For example, customers who need containers with custom-built windows could choose security bars to secure windows from the outside or inside. The bars have a fully welded design and protect the unit from vandalism. Customers might also choose lock boxes that ensure stored contents are safe. Stainless steal locks and tamper-proof crossbar door bars deter thieves, and send them looking for an easier target.

For higher security, containerized storage can be pre-wired with ADT security systems. ADT offers seamless monitoring through seven fully connected centers strategically located throughout the United States and provides continuous service to more than 2.1 million customers. The service can monitor the container 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. And an International Disaster Management program provides uninterrupted service in times of crisis.

"The level of sophistication of security features for portable storage is not widely known," said NPSA Operations Manager Joel Rathbone. "Whether you are securing construction equipment, an on-site office or some other contents, the variety of security features available for containerized storage offers options for every budget and every need."
