Houston Eating Disorders Specialists (HEDS) Conference: The Journey of Hope

Houston, TX, February 13, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Houston Eating Disorders Specialists (HEDS) is pleased to announce its first conference entitled, The Journey of Hope, on February 23, 2013, 8:00-4:30. The event coincides with National Eating Disorders Awareness Week and will focus on creating and maintaining hope in the recovery process. Eating disorders are serious and potentially lethal conditions affecting millions of individuals, yet recovery is possible with appropriate treatment. Craig Johnson, PhD, FAED, CEDS, a thought leader in the field, is the keynote speaker who will address new developments in understanding and treating eating disorders. Conference highlights include other internationally known experts as well as local specialists who will present on a variety of topics such as body image, enhancing treatment, spirituality, and how families can support recovery. A Stories of Hope panel discussion with individuals in recovery and moderator Shern-Min Chow of KHOU news will also be featured in addition to a father’s perspective on recovery. Anyone wishing to learn more about these treatable illnesses is encouraged to attend including students, professionals, and those affected by eating disorders. Seating is limited and registration is required. Continuing education units (CEUs) are available for professionals.

HEDS is a multidisciplinary professional organization dedicated to promotion of effective eating disorders treatment, provision of community and professional education, and efforts to raise awareness and understanding of these illnesses.
