PR.com)-- The Kanoo Group once again took the significant opportunity to support philanthropy after signing a platinum sponsorship with The Oil Barons Charity Ball. This annual gala dinner, now on its 10th year will take place at Meydan Racecourse Dubai on March 8, 2013 focused on fundraising for its sole benefactor, Friends of Cancer Patients Society (FOCP).
Friends of Cancer Patients (FOCP) is a charitable, volunteer based foundation operating under the umbrella of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah with key objectives to provide moral, financial, emotional and medical support for cancer patients, while aiming to create a widespread awareness about cancer, early detection and prevention within UAE community. FOCP has been able to support over 500 patients over the past decade. Since its partnership with Oil Barons Charity Ball on 2008, they were able to raise more than AED 1 Million for charity.
Held under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan - Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Honorary President of UAE Genetic Diseases Association (UAEGDA), the 10th Oil Barons Charity Ball once again calls upon the generosity of the region's energy sector to support patients and their families in the UAE that have been affected by cancer.
Over the years, the Oil Barons Charity Ball has become an important component of the corporate social responsibility program of The Kanoo Group as a participating sponsor. In 2011 over 2,000 guests which included top management executives from The Kanoo Group along with industry players in the Oil and Gas gathered in the event. Part of the fundraising activities which is truly unforgettable was the number of exciting auction items up for grabs with some 'money can't buy' packages.
“Oil Baron of the Year” is also awarded every year as one of the highlights of the event. This honour is given to the top industry executive who has positively impacted the Middle East's energy sector through exceptional leadership, business acumen and societal contributions which includes engagement in corporate social responsibility activities.
