Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, supporting the community with fund raiser partnership

Chapel Hill, NC, March 13, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The annual Ray Price Brunswick Stew Cook-Off is being held March 16 starting at 9:00 a.m. at 1126 South Saunders Street in Raleigh. The Ride for Kids program supports the efforts of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation (PBTF) to find the cause and cure for childhood brain tumors. The goal of the event is to raise funds for the PBTF.

“We are excited to be part of this fun event that is serving up unique versions of Brunswick Stew and all the while giving back to our community,” said Gregory Woloszczuk, President of GMW Carolina, Inc. and owner of Dickey’s Barbecue locations in Downtown Raleigh, Cary, and Durham.

Starting at 11:00 a.m., there will also be a blood drive and live music. Judging and serving begins at 12:00 p.m. with customers and celebrity judges casting their ballots. Cash prizes will be awarded for first, second, third rankings as well as a People’s Choice trophy. Also, all tasting participants wearing green get the opportunity to win a prize by taking a spin at the Ray Price “Nitro Prize Wheel” in the dealership, with a chance to win a gift certificate for $250.

The event is open to the public with many competitors cooking Brunswick Stew on site. For a donation of $5 the public can sample all stew recipes while quantities last.

“We are giving everyone who donates a voucher for a free side of Brunswick Stew in any of our locations in Durham, Cary or Downtown Raleigh,” said Woloszczuk. “We offer Brunswick Stew year-round at all of our locations.”
