Business Financial "Boot Camp" Will Empower DC Metro Small Business Owners with Financial Strategies to Succeed

The Business Financial Boot Camp is designed to teach small business owners through hands on instruction, the financial skills to successfully manage and grow their business during a four hour intensive presented in easy to understand and implement terms.

Washington, DC, April 19, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Sisters In Spirit (SIS), a local not-for-profit organization, will host the "Business Financial Boot Camp: Finance Basics Every Small Business Owner Should Know" Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the historic Thurgood Marshall Center, in NW Washington DC. The Business Financial Boot Camp is designed to teach attendees through hands on instruction, financial skills to successfully manage and grow their business during a four hour intensive presented in easy to understand and implement terms.

“At least four of the top ten reasons for small business failure are finance related, and as part of our community service we’re providing accessible training to our DC Metro area small business owners, particularly targeting women owned businesses,” says Debra Skyy Samuels, Co-founder and Vice President of Sisters in Spirit.

Sessions will include: “Financial Basic Training” to cover the importance of financial organization; basic accounting concepts and how to create a financial system to follow. Session II will focus on “Your Financial Report Card & What it Says About Your Business” to cover a description of financial statements and the different types; the secrets financial statements reveal to banks and investors; and key ratios and what they say about your business. There’s also a bonus session: “How to Create a Simple Budget that will Consistently Grow Your Bottom Line” to cover the definition of a budget and why it is important; how to prepare a twelve month budget; and how to grow your income for an additional twelve months.

Local accountant and financial consultant, Sherrell T.
