Sao Paulo, Brazil, September 14, 2007 --(
PR.com)-- Unit Brazil, a 13 years background ingredients brokering house based in Sao Paulo has been hired by BONY ACAI to develop and manage the exports of acai berry products, mainly the pasteurized and frozen juice packed in drums which is the most demanded acai raw material for juice bottlers, nutraceutical stuff makers and flavor houses. BONY ACAI counts on state-of-the-art facility located in Marituba-PA, working in accordance to the HACCP requirements as well as organic NOP and IFOAM standard. Much more than offering good products and services, BONY ACAI is proud to sell a concept of business which includes both social and environmental concerns reflected by projects the company supports in the Igarape-Miri region. From producer's communities and cooperatives in this area BONY ACAI buys the berries that are then carefully taken to the facility in Marituba (2 hours drive distance).
According to John Laurino, Unit´s director : "We care for the quality of our products from the very begining, from the moment the acai is taken off the trees to the loading of the containers at our facility". To explain that in detail, John adds : "BONY ACAI built an exclusive port in Igarape-Miri where the berries are inspected and then blowed (to eliminate possible foreign matter) and placed in new washable plastic baskets before being loaded to our trucks. When the berries reach our factory there is another inspection in order to assure the product we will process is 100% in accordance to our standard".
BONY ACAI plans to make between 5,000 and 7,000 tons of acai juice in the 2007 season which is now in place. Most of this production will be shipped to USA where the acai is already used by many companies to make hundreds of different products from cosmetics and capsules to ice cream, smoothies and juices.
According to John Laurino "acai demand is growing very fast mainly in North America and the top buyers are looking forward to work with suppliers that care about the social and enviroment aspects of each supply chain and this is part of BONY ACAI´s corporate principles. We want to sell much more than a good product , we want to sell a concept of business".
