Lyon Communities Volunteers for Feeding America San Diego

Newport Beach, CA, December 12, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Lyon Communities, recognized as one of the largest and most respected privately held multi-family real estate companies in Southern California, has kicked off its annual “Holiday Food Drive” benefiting Feeding America San Diego at the upscale latitude33 apartment community in Escondido.

Lyon Communities is volunteering at this year’s drive to help Feeding America San Diego get food to the 73,000 people facing hunger each week and distribute more than 1.2 million pounds of food a month.

“Hunger is a very serious, ever-growing problem – even in San Diego County,” said Suzanne Maddalon, Senior Vice President for Lyon Communities. “Our goal is to help Feeding America San Diego feed those that for a variety of reasons are struggling to provide enough food for themselves or their families.”

“During the holidays food banks experience an increase in need, yet also see a sharp reduction in supply,” added Maddalon. “In addition to raising awareness for Feeding America San Diego’s needs, we hope that this will make a significant difference in the lives of those who need it most.”

Volunteers contribute to 46% of the labor at Feeding America San Diego and ensure that 97 cents of every dollar goes directly to programs.

latitude33 residents can volunteer at Feeding America San Diego. For more information, residents should visit the latitude33 leasing center, or visit us online at www.lyoncommunities.com.
