)-- LYON Superchargers, Inc., a rapidly-growing Quebec, Canada-based manufacturer of innovative, next generation rechargeable energy storage solutions for commercial applications with a satellite office in Hong Kong, today announced that it is to unveil a new ultra-thin, malleable lithium-ion variant with a high capacity.
The battery has been tested extensively at its Pointe Claire, Quebec innovation center and once launched will lend itself readily to a large number of different applications including electric and hybrid vehicles and energy storage solutions for homes relying upon solar-power.
“This is yet another example of LYON’s predilection for innovation,” claimed Andrew Richardson, President of LYON Superchargers. “Not only does this battery nearly triple the capacity of our standard offering and offer enhanced safety features, it can be bent, shaped and formed into any space-saving configuration a designer requires,” he added.
The LYON Superchargers battery owes its flexibility to a patented coating process utilizing a proprietary gel that does away with more traditional vacuum infusion. This also has the added benefit of allowing for up to 5 times faster production. LYON Superchargers will begin supplying the new battery to the market place in the second quarter of 2014.
“We expect this battery to be of particular interest to designers and manufacturers who may have wanted to use lithium-ion technology but may have had their plans hampered by the limited range of flexibility available from more traditional offerings across the industry,” concluded Mr. Richardson.
