Sewing Classes in Aurora Take You to the Next Skill Level -- And They’re Fun

Above & Beyond Sewing and Vacuum announced today a wide range of sewing classes for all skill levels every month throughout 2014.

Aurora, CO, January 30, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Above & Beyond Sewing and Vacuum announced today a wide range of sewing classes for all skill levels every month throughout 2014. They also offer embroidery and quilting classes, or a combination of any three – teaching a new skill in a fun, relaxed studio environment makes it the ideal place to learn sewing in in Aurora, Englewood and Centennial Colorado.

The art of sewing has been experiencing a renaissance in the last few years, with new generations looking to take up the craft as both a hobby and a way to save money on buying clothing, or repairing existing garments. And as more and more people who saw their mothers or grandmothers sew out of necessity become intrigued with the skill of sewing, Above & Beyond Sewing has expanded their offering of classes to accommodate the growing interest. Each month, Above & Beyond offers a variety of classes from sewing 101, to master classes in quilting techniques. All the classes are conducted in the store studios with new machines so sewers can try different machines if they don’t yet own one. Some of the classes are designed to coddle new sewers with step-by-step instructions, while others are designed to push veteran sewers to expand their skills.

“We’ve seen many clients who are great sewers, but their skill level may have plateaued,” said co-owner Kate McMillan. Our classes are taught by experts in their own right, who help stretch any skill level a bit further in a fun environment.

“We provide the machines, so all our student’s have to do is bring some class supplies and their interest in sewing,” stated Patrick Arnold, co-owner. Our classes are designed so any skill level can attend and work at a comfortable pace for themselves in a community with sewers of similar interests.

The class doesn’t end with the one time tutorial. Above and Beyond has a weekly demonstration at each store (there are two) whereby staff demonstrates new techniques or technologies to sewing enthusiasts, who can then practice it themselves.

The classes encompass teaching the skill, but the also expand into new technology too. The basic mechanics of a sewing machine hasn’t changed much for over 100 years, but that is where the similarities end. Sewing machines are now as much computer as they are sewing, with downloadable patterns and stitch styles via memory modules that help sewers of all levels step up their skill considerably and produce projects that would impress any grandmother. Whether your interest lies in embroidery, quilting, or home décor and crafting, Above & Beyond Sewing and Vacuum is offering a class to teach or practice it, along with the right machine to make it easier than ever.

The instructors at Above & Beyond are also skilled in the craft, as well as the newest technology. They provide the course direction, demonstrations, and then provide individual attention through which students will be able to hone their new found skills. Some introductory classes offered in Above and Beyond’s studio are free of charge to give would be sewers a taste of what they can expect in the classes or to see if they like sewing at all.

Sewers of all ages, female and male, can learn a new craft that is enjoyable, easy, and a cost saving measure – all timeless qualities that drove grandmothers to pick up the traditional craft in the first place seem to be coming back around in full force.
