Center for Volunteer Caregiving Annual Fundraiser with The Sand Band

Cary, NC, February 06, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The Center for Volunteer Caregiving, a volunteer-based services provider to Wake County Seniors, is pleased to announce its selection of Alan Kronhaus, M.D. and Shohreh Taavoni, M.D. as Honorary Co-Chairs for its annual benefit gala. The Red Carpet Rendezvous will take place at the Prestonwood Country Club, February 21st from 7:00 pm – 10:30pm.

Drs. Kronhaus and Taavoni are the husband and wife team who co-founded Doctors Making Housecalls, the Triangle's pioneering medical practice specializing in caring for complex elderly patients. According to Dr. Kronhaus, "Serving as co-chair for this important event is a great honor and highlights the shared mission of Doctors Making Housecalls and the Center for Volunteer Caregiving: Both organizations provide care where it is most needed and appreciated, helping the most vulnerable members of our community live with dignity and independence for as long as possible, where they most want to be -- in their own home."

The Master of Ceremonies for this year’s gala will be Monica Laliberte of WRAL. Entertainment and the evening’s events will include dancing and music by The Sand Band, silent and live auction, the legendary Wall of Wine, and heavy hors d’ oeurves.

Since 1992, the Center for Volunteer Caregiving has served as a lifeline to Wake County residents, helping seniors and adults with disabilities maintain a life of independence and dignity. Volunteers work across the County providing: door-through-door transportation for medical appointments, prescription pick-up and grocery shopping; light housekeeping, friendly visiting, light yardwork, shopping or paperwork; and caregiver support for primary caregivers.

This year’s gala is dedicated to celebrating a successful 2013 highlighted by the receipt of two special and validating awards: The 2013 Beverly Foundation STAR Award, where The Center was chosen from volunteer senior transportation programs in 36 states and recognized as experts in transportation and aging; and The 2013 GSK Impact Award in recognition for The Center’s outstanding contributions to a healthier Triangle Region.

Tickets are currently on sale and are $75.00 each and can be purchased via paypal at The Center’s website http://www.volunteercaregiving.org/RCRtickets or by calling the office at 919-460-0567. Proceeds from the Red Carpet Rendezvous will benefit The Center for Volunteer Caregiving’s 2014 goal to procure the technology necessary to manage the growing population of seniors living independently and the needs associated with doing so.
