NexLearn SimWriter 2.0 Captures Brandon Hall Silver Award

Simulation authoring tool allows one person to map, write, design, build and test multimedia-rich simulations in a matter of hours.

Wichita, KS, October 06, 2007 --(PR.com)-- NexLearn, LLC, a leading developer of e-Learning and immersive learning simulations for academic and business education, announced today that it has received the Brandon Hall Silver Medal Award for Best Innovation in Learning Technology.

“We’re excited that SimWriter has been recognized as leading-edge technology in an industry known for utilizing the very latest in computing capabilities,” said Dennis Rees, president of NexLearn. “SimWriter has become an immensely productive tool for immersive learning simulation developers. This award confirms what NexLearn developers have known for quite some time—that SimWriter is the most powerful simulation authoring tool available.”

Created originally as an internal development tool, NexLearn began licensing SimWriter for external use in 2006. The easy-to-use application lets just one developer map, write, design, build and test multimedia-rich simulations. The tool allows other Flash objects to be linked to simulations, or whole simulations can be operated within other Flash files.

Andrew Peterson, PhD., president of the Reformed Theological Seminary Virtual Campus, relied on NexLearn and SimWriter to create the RTSV simulation-based distance learning course “How to Write a Thesis.”

“We needed to engage our learners in a dynamic way,” said Peterson. “We chose NexLearn because they understood our custom content development project, both short- and long-term. And by licensing SimWriter, we have the option to update the course ourselves when necessary.”

Peterson, a presenter at the Brandon Hall Innovations in Learning Conference, shared with attendees the features and functions of the completed RTSV course, which includes multiple video-based simulations, links to reading and writing assignments and social networking capabilities that allow students, instructors and mentors to communicate effectively.

“We are very pleased with the educational product for our students and the service for our staff,” said Peterson. “The people at NexLearn worked with us to develop an informative, engaging course that we can provide through the Moodle course management system.”

SimWriter has generated positive attention from key learning experts throughout the world. “We’ve successfully developed immersive learning simulations for numerous Fortune 500 companies,” said Rees. “The feedback we’ve received regarding SimWriter has been overwhelming, and the future looks extremely encouraging.”

The Brandon Hall Excellence in Learning Awards are presented annually by Brandon Hall Research, one of the leading research firms in training and development. The awards program showcases exceptional work in the use of learning technology.
