JFCS to Honor Four Veterans at May 27th Tribute to Veterans Awards Luncheon

Sarasota, FL, April 03, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Jewish Family & Children’s Service of the Suncoast, Inc. (JFCS), the premier local safety net social service organization, will honor and recognize four veterans at their Tribute to Veterans Service to Community Awards Luncheon on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Michael’s on East. Award Recipients include Richard R. Alvarez, SSG, US Army; Christopher L. Davis, MSG, US Army; Andy Hooker, SPC 5th Class, US Army; and John C. O’Brien, COL (Ret.), US Army. Tickets for the event are now on sale through May 16, 2014.

The awardees were selected from the community for their ability to inspire patriotism, provide service to others and offer hope to veterans while demonstrating collaboration, leadership, and integrity. Each awardee is dedicated to working in the non-profit sector representing organizations such as Kirby Stewart American Legion Post 24, Goodwill Manasota, Sarasota County Veterans Commission, and the Military Officers Association of Sarasota.

The luncheon will also benefit programs and services provided to local veterans by JFCS through its Operation Military Assistance Program (OMAP). OMAP offers case management and financial assistance to very low-income veterans and their families who are homeless or about to become homeless. Each attendee is also asked to consider bringing a donated item to help veterans, such as canned food and personal hygiene items.

“It’s a privilege and honor to be able to recognize the work of my fellow veterans,” stated event Chair, Troy C. Scott, COL (Ret.), United States Army Reserve. “This event symbolizes JFCS’ dedication to and awareness of veteran needs within the community."

The cost of the luncheon is $45 per person; Patron tickets are $100 per person and Table Sponsorships are available at $1,000 for eight reserved seats. Reservations must be received by May 16, 2014.
