)-- The Douglas Company, an Orlando, Fla. general contracting firm, has begun construction work on Port Charlotte Rehabilitation Center, a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility located in Port Charlotte, Fla.
The project calls for a 22,500 square foot addition and improvements to the existing 38,000 square foot building. Work on the current facility will include the renovation of 19 existing patient rooms to incorporate showers into the bathrooms, and the new wing will house 28 new private patient rooms and two new shared private rooms. Plans also include two Hydro-Therapy spas, an outpatient therapy gym, skilled therapy gym, two new courtyards, and renovations to the bistro/serving kitchen and lobby with a new porte-cochere.
Upon completion, the newly updated facility will boast the latest technologies including a state-of-the-art nurse call system, voice-over system, wander management care system, energy recovery HVAC system, therapeutic spas and the latest rehab therapy exercise equipment.
The $6.25 million project, owned by Port Charlotte Healthcare Associates, Ltd. (L.P); Depp Creek RNC, LLC, is expected to be completed in March, 2015. Architectural design is being provided by Lantz-Boggio Architects, P.C.
