Dr. Ralph G. Perrino Presents Northern Virginia Black Chamber of Commerce’s First Scholarship

Dr. Ralph G. Perrino, Director, Northern Virginia Tutoring Service, and NVBCC Scholarship Committee Chair, presents first annual NVBCC scholarship to TC Williams High School Student Amen Hailegiorgis.

Falls Church, VA, April 27, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Northern Virginia Tutoring Service is pleased to announce that its Director, Dr. Ralph G. Perrino, recently presented the Northern Virginia Black Chamber of Commerce’s (NVBCC) first scholarship to deserving TC Williams High School senior Amen Hailegiorgis. Dr. Perrino, NVBCC’s Scholarship Committee Chair, awarded the scholarship to Amen at a reception at Key Concepts Knowledge Base, LLC in Fairfax, VA on Wednesday, April 16, 2014. In attendance were Fairfax County Supervisor John Cook, and William D. Euille, Mayor, City of Alexandria. Dr. Perrino emphasized that the Chamber’s support doesn’t end with the scholarship, stating “We’re here for you and you should feel free to call on us when you need help.” This sentiment was echoed throughout the evening.

Dr. Perrino’s offer of continued assistance comes as no surprise. He works tirelessly in the community in multiple roles, giving guidance and help to our area’s youth. In addition to his role on the scholarship committee at the NBVCC, Dr. Perrino also serves on the Boards of The Fairfax Partnership for Youth (FPY), the Creative Cauldron Theater Company in Falls Church, Virginia, the Faction of Fools Theater Company, and the David M. Brown Planetarium in Arlington, Virginia. He has also served as both President of the Board of Washington Independent Services for Educational Resources (WISER) and Chairman of the Board of the Greater Falls Church Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, he is a member of the Falls Church City Education Foundation, The Falls Church Public Schools Business in Education Program, and the Arlington Public Schools Partners in Education Program.

Dr. Perrino established Northern Virginia Tutoring Service, LLC in 1995 after a career working with parents, school officials and civic groups to resolve difficult problems associated with academic achievement. Dr. Perrino is currently an Associate Professor of Behavioral Science at Northern Virginia Community College where he has taught sociology, political science and business management since 1984. The author of several essays in professional journals and magazines, Dr. Perrino has prepared numerous position papers, management studies, and critical analyses of current issues in education.
