Columbia, SC, May 14, 2014 --(PR.com)-- On Friday, May 16, Feed The Children will deliver a semi tractor-trailer full of food and essentials to help 400 Columbia area families. The food and essentials will be distributed at 10 a.m. at the new Teleperformance Contact Center in Columbia (2340 Broad River Rd).

Teleperformance is a longtime supporter of Feed The Children and is sponsoring the event. Employees from the Columbia Center will also be on hand to help distribute boxes along with volunteers from God’s Storehouse.

Nearly one in five children living in Columbia (26.2 percent) is considered impoverished. In fact, the number of children living in poverty in South Carolina (288,000) could fill the Colonial Life Center more than 16 times.

Feed The Children partner agency, Teleperformance and God’s Storehouse, will pre-identify families receiving the boxes. Each family will receive a 25-pound box of food and a 10-pound box of personal care items. The boxes are designed to help a family of four for up to one week.

“We are so thankful to Teleperformance and God’s Storehouse and their employees for helping to provide food and essentials to children and their families,” said Erin Engelke, spokesperson for Feed The Children. "We hope people will help us put more trucks on the road and provide assistance for fellow Americans who are suffering through the current economic downturn.”

“On behalf of Teleperformance, volunteers and those we help and serve in our communities and around the globe, I wanted to say that we are very grateful to be working with a great charitable partner, such as Feed The Children,” said Pamela Williams-Flemings, spokesperson for Teleperformance’s Citizen of the World Team. “It is through collaborations of foundations, businesses and individuals like you that we are able to make a difference not only in our own communities, but around the globe.”
