Time Domain to Demonstrate Advanced Perimeter Surveillance System for Government and Industry

Company to Highlight Phase III SBIR UWB Detection and Surveillance System at Indian Head Naval Site June 18-19.

Huntsville, AL, June 05, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Time Domain, a leader in ultra wideband (UWB) product development, announced today that it will host a series of demonstrations of its advanced UWB perimeter security technology for U.S. Government and defense industry professionals. The demonstrations will take place June 18th and 19th at the Naval Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division (NAVEODTECHDIV), Indian Head, MD.

Time Domain will be demonstrating its unique virtual radar fence, which can be configured along or around the perimeter of a vulnerable area. The system consists of a staggered fence line of unobtrusive poles that operate as a multi-static radar to detect, track, classify, and identify independent targets of interest. These targets may be people, animals, or vehicles moving along or through the perimeter. The radar technology works in all weather conditions and supports day/night operation. Because the virtual fence does not create a physical barrier it can be deployed in areas where an actual fence would be detrimental to the environment, such as along a shoreline or in areas with wildlife, as well as in areas where a physical fence is already present.

Time Domain’s radar perimeter security system is unique because it detects, tracks, classifies, and identifies targets all with a single sensor technology based upon the Company’s PulsON® 400 UWB module. As a result, the system offers lower installation, operations and maintenance costs in contrast with contemporary security systems that require integration of a number of diverse technologies using optical sensors and human assessment to classify and identify targets. Additionally Time Domain’s perimeter system reduces costly false alarms and nuisance alarms due to its automatic target classification and identification capabilities. The system was designed to be easily integrated with existing security software solutions.

“We are conditioned to accept a world filled with uncertainty and plagued by complex threats,” said Rachel Reinhardt, Time Domain CEO. “Time Domain’s radar fence simplifies intruder assessment and enables security professionals to respond quickly and appropriately to counter potential threats.”

Time Domain has successfully developed and delivered this advanced perimeter security system under the program name SLiMS (ShoreLine Monitoring System), a Naval Facilities Command (NAVFAC) Phase III SBIR program supporting the Department of Defense (DoD) Physical Security Equipment Action Group (PSEAG). Government testing of the SLiMS in a variety of weather conditions, including rain, snow, sleet, and fog, have yielded results that meet the performance specification requirements for Probability of Detection, Correct Classification, and False Alarm Rate.

Attendance at this event is by appointment only and is limited to U.S. citizens. Prior approval for base access is required, and all information must be provided by June 10th. If you are interested in attending, please contact info@timedomain.com for more information.
