The first summer hotel in Millstatt, Austria, Hotel See-Villa was founded by Rudolf Schürer von Waldheim who spearheaded the development of Carinthia as an exclusive summer destination for the nobilities and elites of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The luxury hotel was built in 1884 by renowned architects Mayreder and Kochlin, artificers of the Etablissement Ronacher in Vienna. Von Waldheim was later recognized as the father of Millstatt because of such significant contributions.
