River Expeditions is thrilled to announce the return of their annual Greenbrier PGA tour week specials. These packages include a full or half-day of white water rafting.

Oak Hill, WV, June 18, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The Greenbrier Classic is an essential tournament on the PGA tour, with golfers working hard to achieve not only the Fed Ex Cup, but also a $6.3 million purse. This exciting tour stop is hosted at the beautiful Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. The tournament runs from June 30th to July 6th, with many local activities for golf fans to check out during the week – including whitewater rafting (only an hour away).

“People often come for the entire week of the Greenbrier tournament, so there is ample opportunities to experience everything Southern West Virginia has to offer,” Explains River Expeditions owner, Rick Johnson. “White water rafting is a great outdoor activity that truly personifies the fun and adventure of West Virginia – while also promoting nature and teamwork.”

The New River is not only scenic and recreational but it is also rich in history and Appalachian culture. Local activities and attractions are available throughout the area and include a variety of different entertainment options – so guests are sure to find something that appeals to them. The New River Gorge splits into two distinct sections, the Upper and Lower New River. These sections provide two completely distinct rafting experience – with the Upper New River being ideal for new rafters, and the Lower for experienced rafters.

White water rafting consists of negotiating the New River Gorge on an inflatable raft in waters that are about 70 degrees in the summer. Trips last approximately 5-7 hours, including a break for a riverside BBQ. Experience is not necessary for the more gentle sections of the river. The ability to swim is helpful but not required, as all appropriate safety equipment is provided. Each guest receives a Coast Guard approved Type V Life Jacket, Paddle, and Helmet.
