PrescribeWellness Partners with APCI to Bring Increased Medication Adherence to Community Pharmacy

Aliso Viejo, CA, July 25, 2014 --(PR.com)-- PrescribeWellness, the SaaS Company with a cloud-based platform that delivers more efficient provider services for community pharmacists, announced today its partnership with American Pharmacy Cooperative, Inc. (APCI), one of the country’s largest member-owned group purchasing organizations.

The partnership was officially kicked off at the 2014 McKesson ideaShare conference in Orlando. PrescribeWellness’ software and services are designed to elevate the pharmacist’s role in preventive healthcare services. This is achieved through more efficient provider services that make it easier for retail pharmacies to help their patients improve medication adherence and more effectively manage chronic disease, both of which positively impacts their overall health.

“We are excited to partner with PrescribeWellness and give our member pharmacies the opportunity to improve patient engagement, increase medication adherence, and better understand how well they are operating their pharmacy,” said Jonathan Marquess, PharmD, CDE, CPT, Vice President of Professional and Clinical Affairs at APCI. “It is a time of dynamic change in our industry and we, at APCI, believe that PrescribeWellness is a resource that will help our members evolve to provide the necessary level of patient engagement for a successful future.”

APCI members will benefit from a host of PrescribeWellness services to address all obstacles to adherence including, its trusted “Voice of Authority” channel-focused communications platform which uses the voice of the pharmacist to engage patients, its prescription synchronization program which empowers the pharmacist to support patients on multiple maintenance medications in a more impactful way, and its LinkWellness Dashboard, a powerful interface that allows unique, pharmacy database reporting and segmentation revealing at-risk patients, adherence levels, med sync opportunities as well as other areas that drive patient engagement.

“The American healthcare system is shifting its focus from sickness to prevention,” explained Al Babbington, PrescribeWellness President and CEO. “Star Ratings and related measurements will be determining factors for all the players, so it is critical for independent pharmacies to build patient relationships focused on medication adherence and chronic disease management. PrescribeWellness provides the tools for this.”

“We are pleased to be partnering with APCI and looking forward to working with their members to help them engage their patients in a more meaningful way,” added Babbington.
