Energy Means the World for the United States IAFOR North American Conference on Sustainability, Energy & the Environment

Leading thinkers on issues of sustainability currently affecting the world will be meeting this September in Providence, Rhode Island for the IAFOR North American Conference on Sustainability, Energy & the Environment.

Providence, RI, September 03, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Leading thinkers on issues of sustainability currently affecting the world will be meeting this September in Providence, Rhode Island for the IAFOR North American Conference on Sustainability, Energy & the Environment. This multidisciplinary event will have researchers, professionals and academics presenting on and exploring the conference theme of “Individual, Community & Society: Conflict, Resolution & Synergy.”

More than 30 different countries will be presenting the latest environmental research at this conference, which will be held concurrently with the IAFOR North American Conference on the Social Sciences 2014.

“This conference has been able to attract an outstanding group of people, both in terms of keynotes as well as academic scholars,” says Johannes Moenius, Conference Co-Chair and Featured Speaker. “As in previous IAFOR conferences, I am expecting many interesting – if not eye-opening – presentations and discussions.”

Moenius is the William R. and S. Sue Johnson Endowed Chair of Spatial Economic Analysis and Regional Planning, at the University of Redlands. His featured speech, titled “Energy Means the World for the United States,” will discuss the economic implications of American oil demands.

“I am particularly interested in the economic risks that fossil fuel dependence poses for the United States in general, and how these risks play out on the neighborhood level in particular,” says Johannes Moenius. “Despite the moderate recent drop in oil prices, currently available data and estimates do not paint a rosy picture for the next few years.”

Additional featured and keynote sessions include:

Michael Cusumano, Sloan Management Review Distinguished Professor of Management and Professor of Technological Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Strategic Management and Engineering Systems, MIT, USA, on “Japanese Firms and Staying Power”

Takeshi Komoto, Executive Director, JETRO New York

Linda Toyo Obayashi, Senior Mediation Officer, The World Bank Group, Internal Justice System on “Workplace Conflict? Call The Mediator.”

Yukinori Komine, Associate in Research, The Edwin O. Reischauer Institute of Japanese Studies, Harvard University, USA, and Amy Szarkowski, Psychologist – Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program, Boston Children’s Hospital & Instructor, Harvard Medical School, USA, on “Veterans with Disabilities & the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities: A Study of U.S. Perceptions and Policies”
