Attorney Christine Mayhew to Address Current Wage and Hour Issues Facing Construction Industry.

Raleigh, NC, October 10, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Anderson Jones, PLLC, a full-service law firm serving North Carolina and South Carolina, has announced that attorney Christine Mayhew will be the featured program speaker at the Construction Financial Management Association’s (CFMA) October meeting. Mayhew’s program will cover, “Timing is Everything: Current Wage and Hour Issues Facing the Construction Industry.”

The meeting will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at the North Carolina State University Club, located at 4200 Hillsborough Street. The networking portion of the meeting will begin at 11:30 a.m., and the meeting will begin at noon. The cost is $25 per person. First-time contractor guests may attend for free.

With 88 chapters across the United States, the CFMA is a nonprofit group dedicated to representing construction financial professionals. Through this meeting, Mayhew will address a wide range of topics and potential situations members may face, including:

-An employer’s liability for overtime under the Portal to Portal Act when employees carpool to jobsites;
-A business owner’s personal liability when making incorrect wage determinations, such as overtime or minimum wage, under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA);
-Pitfalls in categorizing an employee as exempt or nonexempt;
-General contractors’ liability for its subcontractors’ misclassification of workers under the Davis-Bacon Act; and
-Misclassification of employees as independent contractors.

Mayhew is an associate attorney with Anderson Jones, PLLC, practicing litigation with a focus on employment and general commercial litigation.
