Exceptional Children’s Foundation Receives Grant from the LA Lakers Youth Foundation

Culver City, CA, October 22, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Exceptional Children’s Foundation (ECF) is pleased to announce the award of a grant from The Los Angeles Lakers Youth Foundation. This grant will help provide services for nearly 200 K-12 students with special needs at ECF’s Kayne Eras School.

The Los Angeles Lakers Foundation focuses on the use of sports to promote education, teamwork, and self-esteem among Los Angeles area youth. The Foundation directly supports these initiatives by providing financial assistance to children and local youth programs.

“ECF is grateful for the support from The Los Angeles Lakers Youth Foundation. This generous grant will allow us to make a positive impact on the students we serve, and through additional basketball and other athletic activities, our students will further develop their self-esteem,” said Scott Bowling, President and CEO of ECF.

“The team sports program is very important to our students because they learn about commitment and teamwork,” explained Francziska Steagall, Enrichment Coordinator at ECF’s Kayne Eras School, “Team sports allow students to set goals, work together with fellow students, and improve their skills. One student has embraced the concept that he’s part of something bigger than just himself. He suited up for our last basketball game because we were short on players. Team sports also provide a venue for school spirit. It’s a wonderful thing to see the entire school community come together. We know we’ve made a difference when students ask, ‘Did WE win?’ instead of ‘Did you win?’”
