Waterview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Contributes to Breast Cancer Awareness Month

New York, NY, October 25, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Waterview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center helps raise awareness of breast cancer. It is vital that women, of all ages, be aware of the dangers of breast cancer and become educated about possible screening exams.

The American Cancer Society recommendations for early breast cancer detection in women who are asymptomatic:

● Women, age 40 and above, should have a mammogram every year. Mammograms have been found to be successful in detecting breast cancer in its early stages for women who are 40 years old or older. While it is possible for a mammogram to miss detection of some forms cancers, a mammogram may contribute to finding entities that are not cancer.

● Healthcare professionals should inform women of the benefits and limitations related to annual mammograms. However, regardless of their shortcomings, mammograms are still an effective tool for decreasing pain and death associated with breast cancer.

● Women with serious health problems must talk with their doctors about continuing to have mammograms performed.

“The Waterview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center family urges women who are 40 years of age to start discussing with their doctors about having a mammogram. It is important that women have screening exams in order to detect breast cancer in its early stages,” says Michael Berger, an administrator at Waterview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
