Mark Chan Bagged Top Spot of the Inaugural Philippine National Latte Art Championship, the Country’s Premiere Latte Art Competition

Chan to represent the Philippines to the 2015 World Latte Art Championship, scheduled to take place June 15-18 in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Chan bested five of Latte Art Championship which took place today at SM City in BF, Parañaque.

The final scores and top six Philippine National Latte Art Championship competitors for 2014 are:

1st Place: Mark Chan, Common Man Coffee Roasters (Singapore) --- 347.50 points
2nd Place: Adhler Miko Simangan, EDSA Beverage Design Group --- 295.00 points
3rd Place: Loui Mart Giron, Toby’s Estate Philippines --- 291.50 points
4th Place: Andy Luyugoy, Toby’s Estate Philippines --- 290.50 points
5th Place: Dave Dexter Dource, Philippine Barista & Coffee Academy --- 289.50 points
6th Place: Mark Kenneth Santos, Craft Coffee Revolution --- 245.50 points

Mark Chan will represent the Philippines to the most prestigious latte art competition in the world --- the World Latte Art Championship, to be held June 15 – 18, 2015 during the Speciality Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE) World of Coffee Expo in Gothenburg, Sweden.

The Inaugural Philippine National Latte Art Championship highlights artistic expression in a competition platform that challenges the barista in an on-demand performance. Preliminary rounds of the event took place November 27 and 28 at Aloha Hotel in Roxas Boulevard, Manila.

Nine of the country’s most skilled Baristas competed during preliminary rounds of the inaugural competition. Each of the competing Baristas produced a single creative latte pattern at the Bar Area then moved to the Stage Area of the competition to create two identical free-pour lattes and two identical designer lattes to a panel of one technical judge, two visual judges, and one head judge. The top six highest scorers from the preliminary rounds advanced to the final round, wherein all finalists were tasked to create two identical free pour espresso macchiato, two free pour identical latte, and two identical designer pattern lattes.
