VASTEC Develops New Process to Improve Section 508 Remediation and Better Serve Individuals with Disabilities

Tampa, FL, January 18, 2015 --(PR.com)-- VASTEC, an industry leading provider of document scanning and hosting, data transformation, and electronic information accessibility, is proud to announce it has been awarded a U.S. patent for a process that improves the speed, breadth, and overall quality of its Section 508 remediation capabilities.

This new procedure adds on to VASTEC’s proprietary suite of accessibility services, and will better serve the needs of people with disabilities as well as organizations that want to provide improved accessibility to information. This is increasingly important as demand grows in both the government and commercial sectors for Section 508 compliant data.

“The patent involves a method of embedding text to improve the experience of the vision-impaired using a screen reader,” said Bill Reinpoldt, VASTEC CTO and process inventor. “The invention works with any screen reader and does not require specialized devices or custom software to work.”

This development underscores VASTEC’s commitment to serve individuals with disabilities and become the nation’s premier provider of Section 508 services to both government and commercial clients. VASTEC is trusted at the highest levels of the Federal government, with clients including the Social Security Administration, the Internal Revenue Service, and the U.S. Government Printing Office.

“Public facing electronic information that is not Section 508 compliant at origination does not have to remain inaccessible,” said Shelby Tudor, VASTEC’s Program Manager for Accessibility Services. “Remediation by VASTEC is an efficient and cost-effective way to bring that information into compliance with Section 508 requirements.”

VASTEC's accessibility team offers a broad range of accessibility services, and is committed to helping organizations better understand their needs, government regulations, and options, through a complimentary no obligation assessment. Accessibility services include:

· Website Accessibility and Section 508 Compliance
· PDF Document and Form Remediation

In every project VASTEC’s best practices guide production of electronic documents to meet and exceed Section 508 standards. Industry leading quality assurance measures include review of the documents by assistive technology quality control testers to ensure individuals with disabilities have access to and use of information and data that is comparable to that of persons without disabilities.

VASTEC offers extensive knowledge of and experience with many popular assistive technology applications and devices including speech-to-text, magnifying and screen reading software such as JAWS, Window Eyes, NVDA, ZoomText, MAGic, Dragon Naturally Speaking, and others. Patented technology allows the disabled full access to the content of their documents without affecting the document’s visual appearance and is compatible with all screen readers without changes.
