Author of Award Winning Military Children's Books Grows Up

Moving from a child's view to a more mature audience focusing on military spouse survival, struggles with mental health, and working in corporate America as a military spouse

Allentown, PA, January 23, 2015 --(PR.com)-- B. Kat Mahoney, author of several award winning military children's books and parenting guides, moves away from a child's story to share forty years of military life in Being American: Surviving Military, Mental Health, Motherhood, and a New Generation.

Mrs. Mahoney is the Founder of Kids of Americas Heroes, a non-profit organization in Arkansas which was embraced by the school districts as an in-school club or after school program. She was a spokesperson at Governor Beebe's Military Health Conference, been a VIP guest Author at Lockheed Martin, and a speaker at educational counseling conferences. Mrs. Mahoney was also a 2010 National Military Spouse of the Year nominee and LRAFB Volunteer Spouse of the Quarter.

"Being American is about my life and how I survived years of military deployments, anxiety, autism and depression, motherhood, and working in corporate America as a military spouse," Mahoney says. "It's about a true American military life; where we respect our country, love our family, and pay a high price for it all."

Mrs. Mahoney prefers to go by her middle name in Being American because she says it separates her children's books emotions from her adulthood emotions. "It's different when you write a children's book as opposed to writing my true, honest, experiences as a military spouse and mother."

Being American: Surviving Military, Mental Health, Motherhood, and a New Generation will release February 2015 and be available on Amazon.com. Learn more about Kat Mahoney at http://kat.mahoney2.com
