Localisation Research Centre and University of Limerick Joins KantanMT Partner Program

University of Limerick translation technology students learn machine translation with KantanMT.com

Dublin, Ireland, April 01, 2015 --(PR.com)-- KantanMT is pleased to welcome the Localisation Research Centre (LRC) and the University of Limerick (UL) to its partner program. University Students from the Master of Science degree, ‘Multilingual computing and localisation’ will use KantanMT.com to learn statistical machine translation from March until September 2015.

The MSc in Multilingual Computing and localisation is a one year full time distance learning program prepared by the LRC in consultation with a panel of academic and industry experts, and takes into account on-going changes in localization and internationalization practice. It caters for new and emerging requirements with a focus on high-quality research output. The LRC is the information, educational, and research centre for the localization community.

“The course is carefully designed for students with a background in either localization, computing, language technology or translation,” Karl Kelly, LRC Manager, Department of Computer Science & Information Systems. “KantanMT provides the students with the latest MT technology, giving them a relevant and up-to-date knowledge base to take with them to industry.”

Thanks to this partnership, the MSc students at UL, now and going forward, will have the opportunity to develop customised MT engines, evaluate quality and deploy KantanMT engines. Students will also learn to optimise efficiencies for various translation processes.
