Red Day: Giving Back to the Community

A last minute paint shortage turned a Keller Williams Realty Select project almost into a failure and an unfinished project.

Sarasota, FL, May 20, 2015 --(PR.com)-- John Buetergerds and Anja Buetergerds of the Sarasota Suncoast Team along with many of their colleagues at Keller Williams Realty Select were getting ready to leave their homes for the annual Red Day event when John received a phone call that required his immediate action. He needed to make sure the beautification of the homes at Everyday Blessings would end up being a success, not an unfinished project.

Keller Williams agents around the world close their offices one day of the year and give back to their communities. This day is called “Red” Day which stands for Renew – Energize – Donate. Agents across the world look forward to this annual event and prepare many months in advance for it. The local Keller Williams Realty Select office chose to give back to the Salvation Army and Everyday Blessings.

John Buetergerds was able to obtain a commitment from Tony Lauro at Scott Paint to donate the paint necessary to paint the rooms at Everyday Blessings. For the last few years Scott Paint has been a committed donor and contributor to the annual Red Day event. On the day of the event, John received a panicked phone call from Everyday Blessings: They mismeasured the rooms and realized Keller Williams would not have enough paint to complete the project. Despite the early hour, John called Tony Lauro and was able to have the additional paint prepared and ready for pick-up in time to get the project started.

Although John and Anja Buetergerds did not volunteer at Everyday Blessings, John was able to coordinate the additional paint and make sure his team members didn’t run out of paint and had to leave an unfinished project. John and Anja volunteered in the kitchen for the Salvation Army helping them to get ready to serve lunch for 50 families.
