The Islands Society Announces 2015-2016 Security Scholars

The Islands Society selects young leaders from across the Pacific for the 2015-2016 Security Scholars Program.

Suva, Fiji, November 14, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The Islands Society (PacSoc) is pleased to announce the final selection of participants for the 2015/16 Pacific Security Scholars Program. The group will be composed of Tevita Motulalo (Tonga), Genevieve Neilson (New Zealand), Adi Litia Cakobau Nailatikau (Fiji) and Melania Baba (Fiji).

Over the next nine months, each scholar will be tasked to tackle the policy implications of four emerging security issues in the Pacific Islands region. They will do so under the guidance of senior mentors from relevant industries and the diplomatic community who are experts on traditional and nontraditional security issues. Their insights and analysis will then be published on the Islands Society's official website alongside various leading regional and international news outlets. In addition to this, each participant will have the opportunity to be the guest-editor in the Pacific Islands Society's Security Journal, placing participants at the center of some of the world’s most influential thought-leaders on Pacific affairs.
