Trender Research’s OTT Magazine Acquires IPTV Magazine
Westford, MA, January 19, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Trender Research Inc.’s Over-the-Top Video division announced today the acquisition of IPTV Magazine and related digital assets. Trender Research is the publisher of OTT Magazine (www.OTTexec.com/magazine) and producer of the OTT Executive Summit (www.OTTexec.com) series of conferences focused on internet TV and streaming video. The acquisition begins a major focus for Trender Research in 2016 to increase its media and information services serving the rapidly growing OTT industry. In addition to IPTV Magazine, the transaction gives Trender Research rights to other digital assets, including www.IPTVdictionary.com and www.IPTVdirectory.com. The combined web sites, email lists, and social media accounts will allow Trender Research to reach up to 50,000 industry professionals across television and film producers, broadcasters, services providers, and enabling technologies. The integrated magazines and other related digital assets will be re-launched in Q2 of this year. Financial terms of the deal were not announced.

“It’s really a sign of the times that internet-protocol television is be subsumed into the world of over-the-top video,” said Brian Mahony, Trender Research CEO and President of OTT Executive Summit and Magazine. “The focus has really moved from how the internet is replacing legacy television network infrastructure to how it is being used as a delivery mechanism for streaming video and new forms of exciting content for consumers to watch. OTT is more than technology infrastructure— it represents a fundamental change in the business model for monetizing video-related content.”

As part of the agreement, IPTV Magazine founder Lawrence Harte, will take on the role of Contributing Editor for the new magazine.

“I’m proud of what I have built and the contribution IPTV Magazine has made to the industry,” said Lawrence Harte, President of IPTV Magazine owner DiscoverNet Inc. “In many ways, this transaction rewards my hard work over the years, but also allows me to focus on some new exciting endeavors I will be announcing soon. I am looking forward to helping Brian give the combined media assets new energy and direction.”

The revamped web sites and publications will be launched prior to the next OTT Executive Summit (www.OTTexec.com), June 15th at the Marriott Marquis in New York City’s Times Square.
