Dacon Completes Major Pipeline Inspection Project in Tianjin, China

Rayong, Thailand, March 11, 2016 --(PR.com)-- The inspection of the 1.9 Km long pipeline with 10 inch diameter started with the calibration of the Ultrasonic intelligent pig. The UT pig was then propelled using base oil which serves as a couplant in ultrasonic testing.

Dacon is an industry leader in Intelligent Pigging and operates one of the world’s lightest Ultrasonic Intelligent pigging tools, the 10 inch UT pig weighting approximately 20 KG’s and with an overall length of 683 mm. One of the major advantages of this tool is that it can be launched and retrieved easily without the use of lifting equipment.

The work schedule for this project was extremely tight, due to the crucial importance of this particular pipeline in the product transfer. Any delays would have impacted the clients loading schedules causing inconvenience and high cost for standing by loading ships.

With a professional attitude, efficient organization and a customer driven approach, Dacon was able to successfully complete the project a day ahead of schedule.

Upon successful retrieval of the UT intelligent pig, Dacon staff conducted a field analysis by downloading and verifying the data collected during the pig run on site. During this process, Dacon staff was able to identify critical pipe wall loss and other features of the pipeline and informed the client accordingly.
