HOMER Energy Announces International Microgrid Conference: New York City Hosts HOMER Microgrid International 2016 - Focus on Microgrid Challenges, Solutions

HOMER Energy, developer of the industry-leading HOMER software for modeling hybrid renewable energy systems, announced that it will present its 4th Annual International Microgrid Conference November 7 and 8 at Columbia University in New York City.

Boulder, CO, June 02, 2016 --(PR.com)-- HOMER Energy, developer of the industry-leading HOMER software for modeling hybrid renewable energy systems, will present its 4th Annual International Microgrid Conference November 7 and 8 at Columbia University in New York City. HOMER Microgrid International 2016 will feature two days of high-quality presentations on the state of the art in microgrid deployments and planning, with a strong focus on the practical challenges and solutions in microgrids today.

The conference will bring together microgrid owners, developers, suppliers, financiers, and policy makers from around the world. At previous HOMER Microgrid Conferences attendees and speakers from 28 countries have shared their experiences with both what works and what doesn’t work. This year the focus will be on the similarities and differences between the different kinds of microgrids: developed and developing countries, remote and grid-connected systems, and applications with different reliability and resilience requirements. By bringing together experts from both developing and developed countries, the lessons learned can be applied and shared broadly.

Dr. Peter Lilienthal, HOMER creator and HOMER Energy CEO said, “After three highly successful HOMER Microgrid Conferences in Mexico, Spain, and Australia, the 4th Annual Conference moves to New York City, in recognition of New York State’s leadership role in promoting microgrids for energy resilience and modernization in the developed, urban world.”

New York is seeing a tremendous increase in interest in microgrids because the state has taken the lead within the US on microgrid development as part of a major utility industry restructuring as laid out in its “Reforming Energy Vision” (REV) strategy.

While the keynote speaker is yet to be announced, the tentative conference agenda includes the following:

· Keynote speech on the NY REV followed by a panel discussion on the role of microgrids, regulatory issues and other initiatives
· Drivers and challenges for microgrids: Resilience, climate change, economics, and regulatory issues
· Technology developments
· Financing microgrids: funding initiatives, challenges, and innovative financing
· Key markets and case studies
