Country Gospel Super Group, Waymasters, to Attend 2016 ICGMA Convention and Awards Show

Christian Country Gospel’s No. 1 band, Waymasters, to attend the 2016 International Country Gospel Music Association (ICGMA) Convention and Awards show.

Nashville, TN, August 05, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Christian Country Gospel’s leading group, Waymasters, will attend the 2016 International Country Gospel Music Association (ICGMA) Convention and Awards show. The convention consists of daily showcases of Country Gospel’s biggest stars and brightest up comers presented in a Grand Ole Opry style format. The convention will be held at the West Plains Civic Center in West Plains, Missouri. Performance showcases begin Thursday, August 4 and conclude Saturday night, August 6 with the ICGMA Awards Show.

Earlier this year the Waymasters made history by becoming the first Christian band and only the fifth recording artist ever to record an album to spawn five No. 1 singles. Previously only Michael Jackson, Rodney Crowell, Brad Paisley, and Katy Perry had achieved this milestone. This will mark the second year the band will participate in the ICGMA’s. Last year the band was shocked when after their performance on Friday night, they were presented with the 2015 Bluegrass Artist of the Year award. In spite of the award’s title, the honor is not reserved purely for bluegrass groups but rather presented to the best acoustic gospel band/artist of the year. Marty Raybon, Doyle Lawson & Quick Silver, The Reed Brothers, and The Isaacs were also nominated for the award.

This year the Waymasters have been nominated for an amazing seven of the genre’s top honors; Group of the Year, Band of the Year, Instrumentalist of the Year (Chewie McMahan), Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Bluegrass (Acoustic) Artist of the Year, and Comedian of the Year (Tommy Frizsell and Chewie McMahan).

The ICGMA will be celebrating its 60th year of the Convention and Awards Show and will feature special performances by Hall of Fame members during Saturday night’s awards program. The Waymasters are scheduled to be at both Friday night’s showcase of performers and Saturday night’s awards program. Fans are encouraged to attend.

All three days of the ICGMA showcases are open to the public. Fans can visit www.icgma.org for more information on attending. More information on the Waymasters can be found by joining their facebook or www.thewaymasters.com, or emailing thewaymasters@yahoo.com.
