Professor of Cell Technology to Unveil Alternative Approaches and New Technology for 3D Cell Culture

Published academic and CSO of European Biotech to chair exclusive 3D Cell Culture conference.

London, United Kingdom, October 12, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Stefan Przyborski, esteemed Professor in Cell Technology, is the chairperson for SMi Group’s inaugural conference on 3D Cell Culture. The event will take place on 22 & 23 February next year in London.

With over 25 years’ experience in cell biology with specific interests in cell culture technology, neuroscience and stem cell research, Professor Przyborski is also the founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Reinnervate (now part of ReproCELL Europe), a biotechnology company founded in 2002 as a spinout from Durham University.

Professor Przyborski will be opening the conference with a keynote exploring 3D methods; challenges, changes and relationships between science and technology. His presentation will cover:
· the 2D vs 3D cell culture debate
· a review of alternative approaches and development of new technologies
· challenges facing 3D culture methods, in terms of technologies available and methods used
· applications where 3D technology makes a difference
· a future perspective for 3D cell culture technology

“There is no doubt that 3D cell culture is a pivotal technique in modern science and a platform for innovation and inspiration. In a competitive industry like ours let us appreciate the unique opportunity offered by this event to share our successes and stories of 3D cell culture to benchmark, and to use the knowledge and understanding gained to shape future work,” he says.

With a focus on clinical successes and emerging technologies, the conference will showcase how 3D Cell Culture has revolutionized drug discovery and toxicity screening, as well as how it is emerging as an invaluable tool in stem cell research and regenerative medicine.

The event will also highlight exciting opportunities and latest innovations, spheroid and organoid techniques, as well as key developments in 3D and 4D bio-printing, microfluidics, CRISPR and the ongoing debate of 2D vs 3D cell culture.

In line with this, GE Healthcare Life Sciences will host an exclusive half-day pre-conference workshop on bio-printing on 21st February 2017.

Professor Przyborski joins expert speakers from MHRA, Sanofi Aventis, AstraZeneca, Novartis, Lonza, GSK, TissUse and many more. A detailed two-day agenda is available to download on the event website.
