Powerstep Acquires Light Orthotics
West Chester, OH, April 26, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Powerstep, a leading provider of prefabricated orthotics and insoles, is pleased to announce the acquisition of Light Orthotics. Light Orthotics developed a revolutionary method of producing custom orthotics in just minutes by molding lightweight, light-curing composite material directly to a patient’s foot. The technology offers the most advanced composite plate in custom orthotics today and provides enough resistance to duplicate the plantar surface of the foot while allowing the practitioner to hold the foot in the proper position. Practitioners, such as Podiatrists, are now able to provide immediate relief to their patients in only one office visit with a superior, customized product.

Light Orthotics complements Powerstep’s current offering of prefabricated orthotics, giving Podiatrists a more cost-effective and convenient alternative for the majority of custom molded orthotics dispensed in office. “The business will be integrated into Powerstep’s current portfolio of orthotics and gives Powerstep access to the growing custom orthotics’ market. It’s a great strategic partnership and helps solidify Powerstep’s position as the leading orthotics brand,” said Rhonda Newman, President of Remington Products Company, the parent company of Powerstep.

Alan Jacobsen, President and CEO of Light Orthotics, said “Light Orthotics represents a transformational technology for the orthotics industry, and we could not imagine a better partner than Powerstep to help expand this new technology to Podiatrists and other healthcare professionals.”

Light Orthotics will merge into the ProTech range of products, available exclusively through medical professionals, and become “ProTech Light Orthotics™ by Powerstep.” The company plans to introduce the technology at podiatry conferences throughout 2017 and assume manufacturing and fulfillment in its Wadsworth, Ohio facility.
