Stocksigns Supports Safety Charity RoSPA

Every week nearly 60 under-fives are hospitalised because of a burn or scald and over 100 children visit A&E following accidental poisoning. Accidents involving children happen all too often and charities such as the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) are helping to make life safer for young children.

Surrey, United Kingdom, June 14, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Stocksigns is one of Britain’s leading providers of signage and digital printing with over 60 years of expertise. Celebrating eight years of partnership with RoSPA, they are donating 20p from every sign sold to the appeal. The funds raised will help provide new parents with information packs to give little ones a safer start.

In a recent survey, RoSPA found that nearly a third of parents in Great Britain have never received or sought advice or information about keeping their children safe from accidents. When asked, 55% of the parents agreed there should be more information and advice about keeping children safe.

The latest mortality figures by the ONS* reveal that accidents remain the biggest cause of death of children and young people aged 0-19. In 2015 accidents claimed the lives of 405 children and young people, ahead of congenital conditions (385) and cancer (370).

RoSPA’s deputy chief executive Errol Taylor said, “The results of our survey show that we still have some way to go to help parents understand accidents and how they can be prevented. Parents have told us that they want more information and advice to help them keep their children safe and this, coupled with the fact that accidents continue to cause the most deaths of children and young people, means we must act.

“Our work over the past 100 years has taught us that accidents do not have to happen, and that’s why we’re stepping up our activities to help parents and carers keep kids safe. As part of this, we’re encouraging people to join our conversation - we need parents of all ages to learn from each other by sharing ideas and experience, and to spread the message that accidents don’t have to happen.”

Danny Adamson, Managing Director for Stocksigns Group, added, “As many know it’s difficult when you become a new parent. There are things we do every day that we have never considered dangerous. Health and Safety is at the forefront of our business and it’s important that awareness is raised so we can lower the number of accidents. We are proud to be part of the Brighter Beginnings appeal to provide help to those who need it.”

Stocksigns are no strangers to raising money for good causes. Just last month the team raised over £200 for RoSPA by cycling the distance from their head office to Lapland on an exercise bike. Employees from Stocksigns and its sister companies MessageMaker and First Call Signs enthusiastically took part and are proud of their achievement.
