Prestige Health Choice Rewards Florida Physicians for Care Provided to Medicaid Members

Prestige Health Choice, a Medicaid managed care plan based in Palm Beach Gardens, has awarded $1.7 million in bonuses to top-performing medical practices in the Prestige network that met or exceeded performance goals related to well-care visits, immunizations, preventive screenings and other quality care issues. Prestige has 330,000 members in Florida.

Palm Beach Gardens, FL, July 27, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Prestige Health Choice, a Medicaid managed care plan serving 55 of Florida’s 67 counties and a joint venture between AmeriHealth Caritas and Florida Blue, awarded $1.7 million in bonuses in May and June to top-performing medical practices in Florida through value-based compensation programs established to reward physicians who provided quality care to its 330,000 enrolled members in 2016.

Over 800 medical practices around the state received incentive bonuses from Prestige for meeting or exceeding HEDIS® performance measures established by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) - the standards by which health plans’ performance is measured on important dimensions of care and service.

The 2016 End-of-Year Provider Incentive Program (PIP) paid $849,000 to more than 700 medical groups that made special efforts to ensure patients received well-care visits, immunizations and preventive screenings. The PerformPlus® Quality Enhancement Program (QEP) delivered $890,000 in bonuses to 121 medical groups that demonstrated quality and efficiency in the delivery of primary care to Prestige Health Choice members last year.

“Our value-based compensation programs align everyone’s interest with delivering quality care to the hundreds of thousands of members who depend on Prestige to stay healthy,” said Prestige President Dwight Chenette. “The programs have been instrumental in helping us attract and keep top-performing doctors in our network.”

Prestige will soon award quality incentive bonuses to obstetrician/gynecologists who exceed HEDIS guidelines for pre- and post-natal care through an OB/GYN Quality Enhancement Program, a value-based incentive program similar to the primary care QEP program. It will be joined by other programs slated to launch later this year to provide additional incentives for physicians in the Prestige network to align care with NCQA quality measures.

“Since Florida True Health acquired the Prestige Health Choice plan in 2015, we have made quality care for members our primary focus,” said Dr. William Burnham, Prestige’s chief medical officer. “Our members are among the most at-risk in the communities we serve. The services we provide address the whole person by taking into account factors that contribute to overall health and well-being, such as behavioral health, food security and employment. We are proud to award physicians in our network for their efforts to go above and beyond in caring for our members.”

Prestige team members have forged a close working relationship with the primary care physicians in the network to clearly define quality measures and assist them in helping members achieve optimal health.
