The Battlegrounds Collects Cans for Operation Food Search

St. Louis mud run donates nearly 1,400 pounds of food for non-profit agency.

St. Louis, MO, May 26, 2018 --(PR.com)-- The Battlegrounds, St. Louis’ only permanent mud run and obstacle course, recently held its 11th bi-annual – and final – race and collected 1,390 pounds of non-perishable food for Operation Food Search. The donation is valued at more than $2,300 and represents enough food to feed 347 people for one day.

In addition to the canned food drive, proceeds from The Battlegrounds race totaled a $1,500 donation to the organization. More than 3,000 runners from 28 states participated in the race.

The canned food was sent to Agape Ministry of Warren County, which feeds approximately 1,000 Warren County residents each month at its food pantries located in Warrenton and Wright City.

“We have thoroughly enjoyed our partnership with Operation Food Search throughout the years,” said The Battlegrounds’ owner Carl Bolm. “We greatly appreciate our runner’s participation in helping local children and families who suffer from food insecurity.”

Operation Food Search (OFS) is a hunger relief organization that provides food and nutrition education. Founded in 1981, OFS helps feed more than 200,000 individuals on a monthly basis – one-third of which are children – through a network of 330 community partners in 31 Missouri and Illinois counties, as well as in the city of St. Louis.

The Battlegrounds is located at 11008 Schreckengast Rd. in Wright City, Mo. next to Cedar Lake Cellars winery and event venue. For more information, call (314) 569-3005 ext. 114.
